A VoIP phone looks and functions just like any other phone or cordless phone. The exception being a VoIP soft phone which exists as a software application on a computer or smartphone.
Corded and cordless VoIP phones require an ethernet connection rather than an analogue or ISDN line connection.
In order for a VoIP phone to function it has to be programmed with the VoIP server’s internet address and authentication details (ie username and password).
There will also be other configuration settings in the VoIP phone to ensure a successful and stable connection together with settings for features such as Voicemail.
