> 999: where’s the emergency?

The Problem

Current systems and procedures adopted by organisations for automatically identifying the location of 999 (or 112) callers on their premises will not work when the call is made from an IP-PBX extension.

This is an important issue as obsolete TDM PBX phone systems are increasingly replaced by IP-PBXs.

Automatic location identification is a legal requirement for 999 calls and is an issue that should be considered as part of an organisation’s regular Health & Safety audit.

The Solution

ConneXon of Montreal are market leaders in North America for the provision of 911 location identification solutions in IP-PBX deployments.

A key element of the ConneXon solution is their Emergency Gateway appliance which enables the location of 911 callers to be precisely and accurately identified.

The latest version of ConneXon Emergency Gateway can be used outside North America and will be launched in the UK in August 2010.

The Emergency Gateway is certified by leading PBX vendors such as Cisco, Avaya & Aastra and will also integrate with Microsoft OCS.

More Information

Stephen Killen of Premitel is assisting ConneXon with the UK launch of the Emergency Gateway and, on request, will provide more detailed information on the Gateway.

Stephen would especially like to hear from organisations who currently have PBX deployments of over 500 extensions and who are concerned about the Health & Safety issues surrounding 999 calls made from their premises.

Stephen would also like to hear from PBX resellers who would be interested in offering the ConneXon Emergency Gateway to existing and prospective customers.

The Emergency Gateway removes a potential objection when an organisation is considering migrating to a centralised IP-PBX network.

There are also distribution opportunites for the Emergency Gateway and, in particular, opportunities for Dell partners who would be interested in supplying and supporting the servers that are required for the Emergency Gateway appliance.
